Suspend and turn on a computer at a set time

It is useless to keep the computer on all the time if you do not use it because it would be a waste of crazy energy.
Without therefore putting a nuclear reactor at home to turn on a PC and also to save money in the energy cost consumed by the computer, an automation can be programmed such that, if specific rules are met, the computer goes into suspension or hibernation.
Through an intelligent and simple program, therefore, it is possible to set an intelligent consumption of energy consumed by the Windows PC .

In the past I had already described how it is possible to turn off a computer automatically at set times and also how to turn on a PC by keeping it in suspension.
Now let's see how the SmartPower program allows you to set a time to wake up a computer put on hibernation or hibernation and to create rules to prevent the computer from shutting down.
Not only, however, you can configure the suspension and ignition (possible if you do not turn off the PC) based on a timer but also on the basis of some customizable rules.
After the free download of SmartPower you can proceed with the installation of the program.
From the Windows start menu you can start the configuration of Smartpower where you can specify rules for the intelligent use of the computer.
A popup should immediately appear asking whether to start the service or not.
On the options window you immediately notice the flag to enable Smartpower at the bottom and the computer shutdown mode which can be shutdown, suspension or hibernation.
In the first tab (Schedules) you can set the period of time within which the computer must stay on and when it must turn off .
Practically it is decided how long the PC must remain active and to establish a time in which, every day, it must go into hibernation or suspension.
Remember that if you turn it off, it will always be turned on again manually.
The other cards are instead conditions to prevent the PC from turning off or going into suspension / hibernation :
- Devices : if the PC is connected to other devices on the network, it will go into hibernation or hibernation if the presence of the specified device on the network is not detected.
- Network : if the PC disconnects from the Internet or from a LAN or Wifi network, it switches off (also useful when leaving the PC on to download something).
- CPU : if the computer stops working and does nothing anymore, it goes to sleep (this is useful if you work with programs that run in the background).
- Processes : If one or more specific processes are active, the PC remains on.
Smartpower therefore becomes a useful tool both to prevent the PC from turning off if it is doing something, and to automatically turn it off when it finishes working (in reality, in the past I had found a better solution to automatically wake up a computer).
If used in conjunction with Windows auto-logon, it may be helpful to find your computer turned on and ready every morning when you go to work.
Remember that you can enable or disable hibernation in Windows from the Energy Saving section in the Control Panel.
Going back to energy, I remember the guide on saving energy in Windows to optimize battery consumption.
