Solutions when Chrome crashes or crashes often

Google Chrome is slowly gaining leadership among the most used browsers in the world thanks to its freshness and lightness in loading websites, thanks to the numerous extensions and multimedia applications that have better performance on Chrome than other browsers such as Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Like all Windows PC programs, however, every now and then, it crashes and closes itself due to some internal and random error.
Other ways it crashes is when it remains to load for a long time by leaving the page blank ( about: blank ), without then showing the requested website or web page.
In other cases, every time you open Google Chrome a message appears at the top with the words: "Google Chrome has not been closed properly"
If in another article I had written a short guide to optimize Chrome, we see here how to solve any crash problems, blocked tabs or plugins that go wrong on the Google browser .
Without losing too much chatter, if closing the browser is not due to a particular busted extension or a particular badly designed site, the best way to solve unknown problems and prevent Chrome from crashing is often by doing a browser reset.
Starting from Chrome 29 you can restore the browser to the default settings without touching saved favorites and passwords.
If it doesn't work, you can delete the user profile; then open the % USERPROFILE% \ AppData \ Local \ Google \ Chrome \ User data folder ( % USERPROFILE% opens the user path in Windows) by pasting the path in the folder's address bar.
Then delete the Local State file which contains the customized settings.
This should allow for a quick fix to the Chrome problem even if it may not be enough.
Some programs may conflict with Chrome and should be disabled or removed: Internet Download Manager (IDM), NVIDIA Network Access Manager, NVIDIA Desktop Explorer, ESET Nod32 Antivirus, NVIDIA nTune, WinMount, Folder Size.
If the problems continue, it is better to create a new user profile by deleting the old one .
Still from the User Data folder inside % USERPROFILE% \ AppData \ Local \ Google \ Chrome \, rename the Default folder in, for example, default.old .
The Default folder contains all the extensions, bookmarks, history, applications etc.
It could be canceled but all the configurations and extensions installed would be lost, therefore, before doing so, it is better to check if the reason derives from some add-on or plugin.
Reopen Chrome and check if it works properly.
If the browser works again, you can restore your favorite sites in the new working profile by going to Default.old and copying the " Bookmarks.bak " file in the new Default folder, renaming it to " Bookmarks ".
The rest of the old default.old folder should be deleted instead.
On this page there is the guide to create a new user profile also on Linux and Mac.
As an extreme solution, you can instead completely reset Chrome as indicated in the last paragraph of the general guide to reset the browser to restore the default settings.
A good percentage of Chrome crashes is the flash plugin built into the browser.
You can then disable the flash plugin by opening Chrome and writing the about: plugins command on the address bar.
Find "Flash" and click Disable.
If Chrome now restarts and runs smoothly, then you need to reinstall Flash.
With this guide you can download the Flash Player uninstaller which you can then download and reinstall.
Remember that you can also download an extension to lower the quality of the Flash on Chrome to improve performance.
If none of these steps helped in the end, it may be worth reinstalling Chrome from scratch .
Then go to the Windows program uninstaller (in Windows 7 from the control panel -> Programs and features), uninstall Chrome and then, from the % USERPROFILE% \ AppData \ Local \ Google folder, completely delete the Chrome folder to eliminate any residue from the program
Finally, download the updated stable version of Chrome and do the offline installation .
Finally, remember that, as written on the page with Google Chrome tricks, hidden commands and options, when a tab remains open and locked, you can write the about: crash command on the address bar to end the upload, unlock it and then close it or reload it.
