Some time ago, Google had launched a new application for all Android smartphones that aims to control the gigabytes of traffic consumed by the applications so that we can save the data connection if it is limited. Today this application no longer exists because Google has withdrawn it, but it is still possible to use a very similar alternative. This is particularly useful for those who use one, two or three Giga internet subscriptions and easily arrive at the end of the month with little residual traffic still available. In addition, internet traffic control is useful when going abroad, if there is no roaming and the Italian subscription is not valid.
As already pointed out in the past when speaking of a similar app that is no longer available, Opera Max, this type of tool allows you to avoid extra costs of internet data connection on consumption with your smartphone .
The app, similar to the now disappeared Google Datally, allows you to control the consumption of Giga of internet traffic on Android and is called Dataeye, free to download from the Google Play Store. Datally works differently than Opera Max, which was instead just a VPN through which data was compressed. In this case we have instead a traffic analysis application that allows you to block the use of the internet by some applications and that provides suggestions to save gigabytes of data connection and also of the wifi connection.
Dataeye then works to educate users on how apps use internet connection data and how traffic can be controlled. The app also integrates the Data Saver tool, the same as the Data Saver function in Chrome, which functions as a VPN through which the internet connection passes, to compress images and other elements of the websites.
After downloading Dataeye and after installing it, you must authorize the application among the Apps with access to usage data and touch the Yes button on the first screen. The Manage Data button (at the moment it is only in English), allows you to check the Giga consumed today and from which applications. The button to find Wifi around, on the other hand, allows you to search for public and open WiFi networks in the area, that is, those that the phone has detected during its use. The most important button is in the center, to activate the Data Saver . When we arrive at the end of the month with little residual traffic that can still be used or whenever we go abroad, it is possible to activate Dataeye's data savings to decrease by 30% the consumption of Giga. The Android phone will show, in the notification area, the symbol of the VPN connection, to signal the use of the Data Saver. In data saving mode, tapping the list of applications that use the internet you will notice, next to each name, a padlock. Touching the padlock will exclude that application from saving data.
