Recover files from a damaged, damaged or unreadable CD DVD BR disc

After talking about how it is possible to recover all the files or almost from a hard disk or from memory cards that have been erased or that have been damaged, the discussion continues focusing on the removable media, CDs and especially DVDs.
CDs and DVDs are fairly delicate media, often exposed to dust and scratches that can affect their use with the risk of becoming unreadable for computer players.
In another post we have given advice and indications for repairing a corrupt, damaged or scratched CD / DVD in order to make it readable at least by the recovery programs and to make a new working copy.
To recover data from a CD / DVD that is no longer readable and therefore ruined, it becomes a company that very often must be entrusted to specialized companies that charge enough.
The home solution is entrusted to three software that operate as recovery tools, obviously free, free and very powerful.
1) CD Recovery Toolbox is a free software available for Windows 98 / ME / 2K / XP / 2K3 / Vista, capable of recovering data from CD, DVD, HD DVD and Blu-Ray media.
Recovery Toolbox is able to recover files that are no longer accessible both because of physical damage to the media (such as scratches) and because of a writing error / defect by the burner.
Once started, CD Recovery Toolbox scans the CD / DVD and produces a detailed list of all the files it can recover allowing the user to easily select and extract them on the hard disk.
CD Recovery Toolbox is therefore the best free program to recover data from a CD / DVD, simple to use, it is certainly the preliminary way for recovery before resorting to more expensive and professional programs or having to contact a technical intervention.
2) RoadKil Unstoppable Copier is instead a very powerful program that allows you to recover data from damaged disks.
The software is also in Italian and is portable, which works without installation, can be launched from a USB stick, very small in size, for both Linux and Windows.
Its use is very simple and, or it works or not but in most desperate cases, it really manages to scrape the bottom and recover the lost data.
Its power lies in the ability to read the damaged CD and then allow you to copy the files to another part to save them before throwing the disc away.
During the process of copying a file, the integrity details of the file can be viewed and at the end the program will say if the copy was good or if it was unable to read the data correctly.
3) Another excellent program for having a damaged or old CD or DVd read on the computer is DVDisaster which works well for making a copy.
Practically you have to download and install the program, start it, insert the damaged CD or DVD whose contents you cannot read, press on Dvdisaster File -> Select Image and choose where to save the image of the copy of the CD or DVD.
Then go to File again, select Parity File, select where to save the ECC file, click Read and then on Create.
Eventually you get an ISO image to burn to a new DVD which contains the recovered data of the old one.
4) Dataminer analyzes the entire disk and shows all the files found on the disk listing the file name, size and type.
You can also search for a file on the disk to find what you need without scanning the entire surface.
An important thing is the possibility to save the disk image on the computer so that the cd can be thrown away and can be worked only from a computer.
5) Abyssal Recovery is a program that recovers data from damaged CDs and DVDs and does it all by itself.
Easy to use, immediate even if it doesn't work miracles, it can be a first, quick method to use.
6) A deepening of this article is in reference to programs to recover videos from illegible CDs or DVDs
