1) Microsoft Outlook

2) Mozilla Thunderbird

Thunderbird is the number one alternative to Outlook as a program to manage e-mail, also good as a calendar for PC. You can use Thunderbird as a calendar synchronized with the Google account (if you use Google Calendar) or with Outlook.com, it remains in the background to give notices on the deadlines and allows you to add activities for each day of the year.

3) Windows 10 calendar

Windows 10 already has a calendar in the form of an application in the installation. The Calendar app is really convenient to use, not only because it integrates with the system clock and can be viewed by clicking on the time on the desktop, but also because it exchanges information with other applications, including Windows 10 Mail and the internal directory.

4) EM Client

EMCLient is another rather popular email client, which in addition to email also allows you to manage the calendar on your PC, free for personal use. The calendar management in eM Client is easy to use even if full of features. The interface is the best that can be found on a PC program and is also fully customizable with colors and with the choice of seeing the calendar for days, weeks, months or years. Commitments and activities can be synchronized online on the Google calendar, on Gmail or iCloud. Among the best features are reminders, sending invitations and receiving confirmations from event participants, advanced search and filters, weather forecast for the days ahead.

5) EssentialPIM

PIM stands for Personal Information Manager and EssentialPIM is perhaps the number one of the free programs in this category of software. The free version of the program includes the features of the calendar, the management of tasks to be done, reminders, phone book and agenda, emails and password management. While synchronization with online services such as Google Calendar is not supported (it takes the paid version for this), synchronization with the Android and iPhone apps of EssentialPIM is still active, so you can have a unique calendar management even by changing device.

8) UKCalendar

The UK Calendar (initials of the developer name) is a simple and basic program for managing work or appointments from your computer, which you can download for free and without limitations. The home screen displays the current month but you can choose to see the whole year, only 15 days or the week. The days are colored to make the difference between weekdays, work days and weekends or holidays easier. The holiday calendar is available for different countries and also for Italy so Republic Day and the anniversary of the liberation will be marked.
In its agenda function you can write reminders or even a mini diary for each day of the year. Each event and thing written can be categorized into categories so as to group events of the same type and find them more easily. If you set events to remember, you can change the color with which that day should appear in the calendar and you can also set a warning in the form of a pop-up or sound alarm with an audio file of your choice. It is also possible to program repetitive events, such as that must be remembered every week or every Wednesday of a month, every Thursday until September and so on many other combinations. For each event or thing to remember, you can also set an action to execute a command or open a document on your computer.
The biggest and perhaps the only flaw of this small program is that it is not possible to import data from other calendar programs, which means that it cannot be synchronized with another software or web application.
