Best Ebook Reader to buy

The eBook reader is one of those technological objects that have generated conflicts between traditional readers and the new generations.
The former tend to believe that books should be made of paper, for the latter instead, accustomed to using smartphones and tablets several hours a day, reading is done only from a screen and it is not conceivable to waste space and for a single book whenever possible carry thousands of books in a pocket reader .
Maybe it's just a matter of different habits or maybe touch, but as for reading quality there is really no difference and it is undeniable that an eBook reader is more convenient both for the smaller footprint, and for the possibility of being able to buy and collect any book you want without having to go to the library, simply by pressing a button.
In addition, eBook Readers have screens designed specifically to not disturb the view, with an opaque brightness that emulates the sight of a sheet of paper.
In this guide we will see together therefore the best Ebook Reader to buy .

It is a simple 6-inch tablet-shaped device with integrated backlight, a battery that lasts for weeks and enough memory capacity to hold thousands of books.
There are four versions of this eBook reader:
  • Kindle Paperwhite with Wi-Fi connection at the current price of 130 Euros (special offers)
  • Kindle Paperwhite with 3G connectivity that costs 190 Euros (special offers)
  • Kindle Paperwhite with Wi-Fi connection at the current price of 140 Euros (without special offers)
  • Kindle Paperwhite with 3G connectivity that costs 200 Euros (without special offers)
The models with special offers included allow you to save € 10 on the purchase price but in return we will have to keep banners at the bottom of the menus (they will not appear when reading) and as screensavers. The Paperwhite is light, easy to use with one hand, capable of synchronizing wirelessly with your Amazon account and with other devices (if, for example, you also use the PC to read or the iPad).
Like any Kindle, you can take notes and make notes in the margins of the book, search for words, adjust the size of the text and characters to make reading easier and not tire the eyes, read notes and references and more. Paperwhite also supports books from other libraries, not just those bought on Amazon (with the exception of ePub files, so this book format will have to be converted). There is no doubt that this is the best Ebook Reader ever today, what the competition should try to imitate and overcome for features and ease of use.

Amazon Kindle Oasis

Another Kindle model, more advanced but more expensive, is the 250 Euro Kindle Oasis in the WiFi only version and 340 Euro if you want the 3G connection. This eBook is the evolution of Paperwhite, with higher resolution, higher contrast, adaptive lighting, a touch-sensitive display to turn pages with one hand, magnetic pages that scroll as if it were a real book, viewed against the light, battery that lasts a long time, Wi-Fi and 3G. Special protective cases with additional battery are available for Oasis, in order to increase the autonomy of the device while reading.
3) Kindle
If you want to spend less and have less demands, you can always buy the classic Kindle .

Despite the reduced price and the lack of some features, it still remains an excellent e-Book reader with a 6-inch touchscreen, WiFi connection, 4GB memory that contains hundreds of books, but without a backlit screen (it is an E Ink electronic ink screen ). With the Kindle you can read a book without sunlight problems, without reflections, as you would on paper.
3) Rakuten Kobo Libra
The Rakuten Kobo Libra is the main alternative to the Amazon Kindle, with a price of 120 Euros.

Kobo is linked to the Kobo eBookstore book catalog, which boasts a large collection of books (also recent) all in Italian.
Kobo can be bought on the official website or even in the main online stores. In general, Kobo are freer products than Kindle and in addition they read all formats of books, magazines, comics and digital text documents, including ePub, CBZ and CBR files. If you don't want to be tied to Amazon's book store, Kobo is the best choice you can make today.
4) Tablet as an eBook reader
If you are not going to buy a dedicated eBook Reader or read occasionally (so as not to make the investment profitable), the best alternative for reading eBook readers is certainly the normal tablet, using eBook reading applications. For example, the Google Play Books app is already installed on Android tablets, which allows you to buy and read eBooks as if you were using a Kindle; this app is also available for iPad so you always have your books synchronized on any tablet device used.
If we don't find this application or want to download it on iPad, we can use the link here -> Google Play Books (Android) and Google Play Books (iOS).

If instead we purchased books on Amazon in digital format we can read them comfortably even on a tablet without having to buy the Kindle, using the Kindle apps, available for free download from here -> Kindle (Android) and Kindle (iOS).

There are at least three problems with using an iPad or Android tablet to read books :
  • First of all, reading at night on the bright screen of the tablet can be annoying to the eyes, fatigue that is considerably less when reading on the screen of eBook Readers equipped with an e-Ink screen.
  • Second problem is the battery which in normal tablets does not last more than one or two days, while on dedicated reading devices it lasts weeks.
  • Finally, Ebook readers are much lighter and more portable than normal tablets and are easier to carry around, with less worries about possible damage (also considering how much the iPad costs).
