Activate Google Discover to get personalized news on Android and iPhone

Even in some newspapers it has been described, erroneously and with exaggerated emphasis, as the revolution of the search engine, that of Google Discover is an important function introduced in the Google app of Android smartphones and on the iPhone .
It is, in fact, the evolution of Google Now then called Google Feed and now Google Discover, and which allows you to receive push updates (i.e. when they are available), on the phone, on any possible topic that we are interested.
Google Discover works as an interactive assistant, not necessarily with voice commands, which works as a tool to follow certain topics you are interested in.
The most banal example is to receive the sports results of the football teams that we support or are interested in, but it is also possible to receive technology news on a particular product, current affairs, gossip about famous people and much more.
To use Google Discover, however, it is necessary to activate the configuration in the Google application of iPhone and Samsung, Huawei or any other Android device .
First of all, open the Google app (on iPhone, of course, you can do it) or touch the Google search bar located on the screen of your Android phone to enter the screen where you can search and read personalized information cards. On Android, the Discover function can also be used from the Google Go app .
You will immediately notice that the first card is called Discover and it is a list of news concerning topics that we should be interested in. The selection of news is done automatically during the use of the phone and the searches made, but it is possible to manually remove some detected interests so as not to receive news about things that do not interest us and add topics to be followed manually.
To customize the news of Discover, you can touch the button with three dots above each news. You can stop following a topic, hide that news and then customize Discover.
Even tap the button with three dots on the bottom right you can go to settings, scroll down and press on " Customize Discover ". You can then add topics to follow, manage the keywords already set and then enable or disable notifications and choose, if necessary, which notifications to receive on different topics.
For example, you can receive updates on the weather, on the time to get to work or at home, on the sports results of the teams followed, on stock market actions, on topics considered interesting, on elections, on football matches, on air flights, on reductions of prices of the products searched on the internet and on the activities to do. This information is customized based on where we are, based on Google searches and looking in emails if using Gmail. Information on incoming parcels, air flights and commitments are extracted from the emails received.
Discover personalization is also based on Google history, searches made, sites visited and recently used apps.
Whenever you do a search with Google, for example by looking for the title of a movie like " Game of Thrones ", scrolling through the search results a colored tab with a button above it to appear to follow the topic .
You can then follow the news on the Game of Thrones in order to receive and read updates on the first page of the Google app and, if activated, to receive notifications whenever there is news. This button to follow topics appears every time you search for something popular, such as the name of a film, an actor, a singer, a sports team, a multinational company.
Obviously it doesn't appear if you are looking for things like " Navigaweb ", even if with Google Discover active every search becomes an interest.
In fact, looking at the main screen that appears by touching the search bar or the Google app on Android, you can scroll down news about things we have searched for in the past. Searching then Navigaweb you can read the titles of the most recent articles of this blog.
Google Discover learns and changes following our habits and interests, trying to provide the most truthful and updated information on each news and also taking care of the user's preferences regarding his favorite topics, the blogs he follows and the most visited sites. It will therefore not be a revolution in the way of using the internet, but there is a net added value for each smartphone, even if few usually remember functions like this.
