Adding more accounts to Gmail (Android)

Gmail is undoubtedly the most used email service, given its integration with the Google account and its use on practically any Android smartphone in circulation. Precisely this great diffusion can be "exploited" to avoid having to use several e-mail apps (one for each e-mail account we own), since with Gmail we have IMAP support to practically any e-mail box available on the Web.
In this guide we will show you, in a simple and clear way, how to add non-Google email addresses on Gmail for Android, so you can manage all our emails from a single app and benefit from the advanced anti-spam filter offered by Google on the service mail (very useful for blocking fishing messages and deceptive messages).

Add other email addresses to Gmail from Android

Gmail is an excellent app for managing multiple email accounts and works great with any type of IMAP email account (which allows you to update the changes in the mailbox in real time, while still leaving a copy of the emails on the server). In this case, we are not talking about forwarding or redirecting messages, but about real account management directly within the Gmail app.
To add other email addresses to Gmail on Android, we open the app of the same name on our smartphone or tablet, press the button with the three horizontal lines at the top left, scroll down to see the Settings item then press on the Add account item.

In the new screen we can decide the type of email account to add to the app: we can add another Google account (so as to manage two or more Gmail boxes from a single app), add an Outlook, Hotmail and Live account (useful if we have a 'email or a Microsoft account), add a Yahoo account or add an Exchange and Office 365 account (useful if we use accounts for work or business).
Choosing the right type of account, Gmail will automatically use the best settings for the IMAP connection: all we have to do is enter the email address and password, the app will take care of the rest!
If we have another type of email account (for example Email, Libero, Email TIM etc.), we can add them to our Gmail app without too many problems, we will only have to make sure that the accounts to be added have IMAP support.
Let's go back to Settings -> Add account, press on the item Other, enter the email address of the account to be added and press on Next . The app will perform a compatibility check and, if recognized, simply enter the email password to manage the mailbox.
If it is not possible to automatically configure the new mailbox, press down on the Manual configuration item after adding the email (in the Other screen), choose the Personal item (IMAP) then enter the access password.

In the next screen we will see a summary of the information provided: here we will have to pay close attention to the Server item, essential to be able to access the email in Gmail.

We retrieve the login information of our mail account, verify that they are congruent then press Next and Finish to add the account to Gmail.
In order to send emails, we will also have to manually configure the outgoing mail account, recovering the SMTP data of the account in use.
In this regard, we invite you to read our guide on how to read Free Email, TIM, Fastweb, Vodafone on Android and iPhone, where we will find a lot of useful parameters to configure all the most famous email accounts.

Add PEC to Gmail

We also want to add PECs to our Gmail app ">
Note : We do not recommend using the PEC through uncertified mail services such as Gmail. PECs are emails with legal value only if the transmission takes place from PEC and PEC.
If for necessity or emergency we need to recover a PEC from our account, go back to Settings -> Add account, press on Other and enter the access data of our PEC, paying particular attention to the server used to receive the PEC.
The access parameters can be retrieved from our App for access certified mail PEC from iPhone and Android, where there are also specific apps for PEC (highly recommended).

Alternatives to Gmail to manage all email accounts

If we are looking for viable alternatives to Gmail to manage all email accounts from a single app, we recommend you try the apps listed below.
One of the best alternatives to Gmail to manage multiple accounts is Outlook, available for free for Android smartphones and tablets.

In addition to managing all types of Microsoft accounts, it allows you to add Gmail, Yahoo and other types of emails, so you can read new emails from a single app and reply by choosing one of the added accounts from time to time. We can learn more about this in our article Importing Free Email, Yahoo and other accounts into Outlook.com .
Another interesting app to add email addresses in a single app is Blue Mail.

With this elegant app we will be able to manage any type of mail account with IMAP support, in a very pleasant interface to use also thanks to the People Tab, which allows you to group the emails of a single contact in a single place, as if they were chats .
To find other useful apps we advise you to continue reading on our article Best Android apps to read and send Email .

Conclusions

As we have seen, we can add any email box to the Gmail app, so that we have a single place to read, filter and reply to email messages.
The steps described are also valid for PEC (although we do not recommend using with Gmail) and we can also choose other apps similar to Gmail to manage multiple email accounts simultaneously.
If we don't have an email address yet, we can get one by reading the guide Create an Email Address: Best Free Email Services . If, on the other hand, we want to manage multiple email accounts on iPad or iPhone, we recommend reading our guide Adding Email accounts on iPhone and iPad, configuring and removing them .
