Pros and Cons for Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Opera

Choosing which browser to use can depend on many factors: there are those who use Firefox because they have never abandoned it since they surf the internet, there are those who use Chrome because they trust Google, there are those who hate Chrome because they feel spied on from Google, there are those who use Internet Explorer because they are too lazy to try another one and then there are those who would prefer to uninstall IE and not see it anymore and then there are the few but fierce fans of other browsers such as Opera, the outsider considered by many the best browser to surf the web.
As those who have read technology blogs will have noticed, the updates of these browsers are now very fast, all chasing the latest technologies on the web, adding features, loading faster and improving every time.
We currently have Firefox 7, Internet Explorer 9, Chrome 14 and Opera 11.51 .
To make another comparison on these 4 browsers, we see pros and cons of each of these 4 browsers, strengths and problems of surfing the internet with IE, Firefox, Opera and Chrome.
I state that it is an article of opinion and personal reflection, trying to get rid of prejudices, especially philosophical, which often accompanies the choice of this category of programs and analyzing, as objectively as possible, the pros and cons of each browser.
Firefox
Until a few years ago, if you wanted a program to surf the web in a complete and interactive way, you had to download Firefox because Internet Explorer, up to version 6, was a terribly inefficient and slow software. Now the choice of browser has widened and Firefox is no longer my favorite despite having unique features that others do not have.
Pros : Firefox has extensions and addons, has always had them and allows you to do anything to interact with websites, to download faster, to help developers, to manage chats and social networks and much more. Firefox is compatible with the latest web technologies such as HTML5 and is a browser that opens any site correctly. Since version 4 it has improved in graphics and added a lot of features such as synchronizing passwords, favorites and preferences between multiple computers (see Firefox tricks and features)
Cons : Every now and then, opening a site heavier than normal, Firefox seems to take up too much memory and get stuck in uploads .
For example, on a rather old pc, the flash games opened with Firefox go slow while if they are open with the other browsers they flow as smoothly as they should be.
Conclusion : Time passes for everyone, Firefox today suffers the competition from Chrome and Internet Explorer 9, the extensions are no longer exclusive and almost all of them are also available for Opera and Chrome. Instead of shooting new versions every two months, Mozilla should focus on cleaning the program from the heavy components that take up memory before a large number of users start changing browsers.
Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer has always been the most used browser in the world because it is installed inside Windows and is the only browser found on the computer after the first installation. So it happens that less experienced users use IE for its name (Thinking that opening the internet means opening Internet Explorer).
Microsoft has neglected to improve IE for a long time due to a lack of alternatives but now that the competition is so fierce Internet Explorer has also been significantly improved.
Pros : You can't stay on Windows without keeping IE9 handy, even if you use another browser as default.
IE9 crashes very rarely, is perhaps the most stable browser and is the most compatible with the Windows operating system and is necessary for the operation of some special programs. New graphic features, security, more space for web pages, better performance and speed make IE 9 an optimal choice.
Cons : IE9 starts quickly but, despite progress, remains the slowest of the 4 to load web pages.
There is also a market for extensions and add-ons that lives up to that of Chrome and Firefox with which you can do almost anything. IE9 is often prey to annoying advertising toolbars that automatically install when downloading free programs from the internet.
A noteworthy "cons" for Internet Explorer is the fact that it exists only for Windows 7 and Vista and not for XP, Mac and Linux
Conclusion : One thing to admit is that when it comes to providing a " stable " program, Microsoft is truly the king of the software market. Despite the lack of resources and extensions, IE9 is the best browser that Microsoft has ever made and it would not be so unwary to bet that, with the next changes of IE10, Internet Explorer returns to dominate the web browser market.
Google Chrome
I have been using Chrome since the first version was released, I am a Google fan and it is difficult for me to remain objective.
Pros : Chrome is the fastest browser to load, it never clogs up the memory and even if it sometimes crashes, it restarts immediately by reopening the web pages that were open. In the Google Chrome App Store there are a lot of applications and extensions to use this browser almost like a cloud operating system (which uses web applications) rather than a simple browser to read newspapers online.
Like Firefox and Opera, Chrome is available for all operating systems: Windows, Linux and Mac.
Cons : I don't know why but sometimes, clicking links on the internet, the site that should appear does not load and remains a blank page and a refresh is required to reload the page correctly. This is a problem that other browsers also have, but with Chrome it seems to me to be quite relevant. Chrome also belongs to Google and it is no secret that the browsing data is sent anonymously to the search engine giant.
If you want a Chrome not linked to Google, however, you can always download Chromium or SRWare Iron (see the 10 alternative browsers to Chrome and Firefox)
Conclusion : Chrome is the best of the browsers currently distributed, each version improves and is seen, with new features and customizations. Fast, light and expandable, Google Chrome, if it keeps this pace, will end up taking over.
Opera
Opera is an outsider who holds a much lower market share than the three giants described above but who is praised by his fans who would never give up on this browser. If you open Opera and Firefox together and notice several similarities, it is correct to note that it was the famous Firefox that copied Opera and not the other way around.
Pros : Opera is a very light browser and is perhaps the only one that works decently on older computers and with obsolete hardware. Opera also has support for extensions and scripts like Firefox and Chrome and has some really powerful and useful internal features like VPN. She has not been left behind in providing support for new technologies such as HTML 5 and also owns bookmark synchronization.
Cons : Until recently some sites did not open with Opera and, unfortunately, for some web applications, compatibility is lacking and another browser must be used.
Although extensions are a nice thing, they have diminished the performance of this browser.
Conclusion : Opera will never be a leader in the browser market because it lacks the name, the right advertising and because its performance is not better than the others.
However, if you feel bad about the first three, if you are disappointed by Firefox and want an excellent alternative, Opera is definitely the browser to download and use as default.
If you are wondering why I never mention Safari in these comparisons, you must know that Safari is a browser for Mac that remains slow and cumbersome on Windows and also remains lower on Mac and Firefox7.
