Set a volume for each program or device

Microsoft has never evolved too much the way you manage your computer's audio volume.
By clicking on the volume icon next to the clock you can only decide to raise or lower the volume.
In Windows 7 and 8 there is also a mixer that allows you to manage the volume according to the various open programs, but it is rather limited.
Few things are more irritating than listening to an advertisement or a particularly unpleasant sound while being silent or watching a movie.
SoundVolumeView is a freeware program from Nirsoft, which does not require installation, for 32 and 64 bit PCs, which allows Windows users to create multiple audio profiles by selectively setting the volume of each audio device and each open program .
This allows you to switch from one profile to another quickly and have one for listening to music, another for watching videos at home and one that deactivates all PC sounds in case of need.
Then download SoundVolumeView for free from the NirSoft website, extract the contents to a folder on your PC, and double-click on the EXE file.
The user interface is clear and you can't go wrong: it is a list of all applications and devices, including microphones, that use sound on the PC.
The program only displays programs that play sounds or have played them previously, but not all running programs.
For example, if you start Chrome or Opera, but don't have any audio playback, then they won't be listed.
For each individual application or device, the audio can be disabled.
Selected items can be muted and the PC's default audio can be set.
Once a general configuration has been found, it can be saved by going to the menu File -> Save sound profile.
This profile can be loaded from SoundVolumeView whenever you want.
