Capturing screenshots and screenshots in Windows: 7 free programs

In a world where everything is shared by now, knowing how to make a photo to a screen from a PC or to a program window could prove very useful in many social scenarios but even more if we work with IT and screenshots.
Capturing the screens on Windows is relatively simple, since the Print key on the keyboard or the capture tool integrated since Windows 7 allow to obtain a good result, but for those looking for more elaborate tools and with greater customization possibilities, you will have to bet specific programs.
We find in this guide the best programs to capture screenshots on Windows with the possibility to customize them by adding arrows, indicators, text and highlighters, in addition to the normal editing tools that can be used (reduce image, cut edges etc.).

As already mentioned we can use the Capture Tool integrated in the most recent versions of Windows to make screenshots on the fly (just look for it in the Start menu), but this tool offers very little to be able to get the most out of your captured screens.
If we work a lot with the images captured by the PC, we are YouTubers or we simply share many Windows screens, we can use one of the free programs below to take screenshots.
Just choose your favorite one and use it to capture screenshots as needed, perhaps setting it to start automatically together with Windows so you can call up the shortcuts associated with the program at any time.
1) ShareX
One of the best programs to take screenshots on Windows is ShareX, available for free download from here -> ShareX .

This program offers many features for the management, capture and automatic sharing of the screenshots.
We can modify the images we like as best we can, choose what to do after each shot, automate the capture or sharing process on image sites or on some personal social networks, automatically resize all the photos taken and set a separate shutter speed so as to carry out repeat shots without pressing any button.
Really one of the best tools for making screenshots on Windows.
2) Greenshot
Another very good program to take screenshots on Windows is Greenshot, which you can download from here -> Greenshot .

Once installed, the program will be placed in the system bar at the bottom left, ready to capture any screen, region or full screen of the PC using the keys offered by the contextual menu of the same or the keyboard shortcuts offered (customizable as needed).
Once captured, we can decide whether to save it directly in the prepared folder (both in JPEG and in PNG) or whether to open the image editor, so as to add graphic elements and make the screenshot really useful in the workplace or if we need to show something specific on social media.
3) LightShot
Among the best tools we have tried to capture screens on Windows could not miss LightShot, available for download from here -> LightShot .

This program offers a very light and effective tool to take screenshots on Windows without wasting too much time, given the extreme ease of use.
Just press the capture button to see the capture rectangle to be dragged with the mouse; at the bottom right all the buttons to be used to save the screenshots, to edit them or to share them on the fly on the main social networks, on the dedicated Web page or via email will appear.
It is difficult to find a lighter and more immediate program for making screenshots, I recommend using it in all cases where we need a light capture program on PCs that are not particularly performing or where we make few screenshots.
4) PicPick
Another program we discovered to be able to take screenshots on Windows 7 and Windows 10 is PicPick, available from here -> PicPick .

This program is very complete to make the screens on any PC with Windows installed; just start it and use the keyboard shortcuts offered or the menu items to capture the full screen, only a portion of the screen, a specific window or a tab, so you can make "surgical" screenshots avoiding to insert even the elements that are not interesting.
Once the screen has been captured, we can use the tools offered to enhance the colors, take color samples, enlarge or reduce the size of the shot and insert all the signs necessary to highlight a portion or an item present in the screenshot. PicPick was certainly a pleasant discovery for its immediacy and effectiveness in any situation.
5) Lightscreen
If we are looking for a very light capture tool to run on Windows we can try Lightscreen, available for free download from here -> Lightscreen .

Apparently as simple as the tool integrated in Windows, however, it allows you to customize the keyboard shortcuts to make targeted screenshots, dynamically choose the folder where to save the captured screen and load it quickly and quickly on Imgur, the sharing service Internet photos with free access.
Really an essential tool, but with all the credentials to be able to replace the tool integrated in Windows without any regrets.
6) Flamory
The most interesting program to use is Flamory, available for download from here -> Flamory .

This program works as a sort of aggregator, with which it is possible to capture program windows but also websites, PDF pages and portions of videos, so as to save them in a single space.
Once all the necessary catches have been made, we can transform them into screenshots directly on the program screen or alternatively into a link to share on social media, in chat or via email.
Among the available tools we find arrows, pointers and images of text, so as to be able to beautify all the images captured with the program.
7) Screeny is a free program for Windows PC with many essential options to customize the screenshot after the acquisition.
You can then save the image in PDF directly, you can print the screen, you can send the screenshot via email or another image editing application, you can add it to a Word, Excel and Powerpoint document and you can use tools to draw on it.
The most important feature of this tool is that it automatically saves the screenshot, using the Stamp button.
