On the website of the most famous furniture store in the world, the Swedish Ikea, there is a web application to design your own home, dining room and kitchen, using the furniture sold by Ikea . Through this application you can graphically simulate the arrangement of furniture at home and allows you to try different ways of furnishing the kitchen and dining room . The Ikea Home Plannerp web application works on Windows and Mac and requires you to install a plugin that is different depending on the browser used: Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome. The program is very nice and in Italian but it is only useful for those who intend to buy from Ikea because it allows you to furnish the rooms only using furniture for sale at the Ikea store without the possibility of customizing the furniture with complete freedom.
Going to the Ikea Home Planner page, after installing the plugin, you can start designing your home, kitchen and dining room with Ikea furniture .
First of all you have to choose the shape of the room and precisely indicate the dimensions in width, height and length.
We then go to design the room as it really is, placing obstacles, doors, windows and plumbing, electrical and heating systems.
Below, from the left menu, you select which type of room you intend to furnish: normal room, kitchen or dining room.
You can choose the kitchen model (among those available from Ikea), the appliances, accessories, trolleys, tables, chairs and so on.
Each chosen element can be placed in the room and for each is indicated the name, a description and the price at which it is on sale.
Using the mouse you can move or turn the furniture in the room and pressing the 3D View button (the second starting from the left) you can see the room as it really would be, with a perfectly scaled view. The arrows allow you to turn in the room and see the furniture from all angles and the zoom keys enlarge the view. Through the basket you can remove a piece of furniture from the room. When you need to arrange a piece of furniture that opens or with drawers or doors, the Planner turns it green when it is placed in the right way.
Always from the menu on the left you can also decorate the room and then color the floor, handles, walls, attics and other objects differently. Of course, the decorations are also on sale from Ikea. After choosing the various furniture with which to furnish the kitchen or dining room, you can go to the last section, that of the product detail where you can see the list of furniture with the price and the total. The project can also be printed and it is possible to contact customer service to place an order.
the Ikea Home planner is also a Windows program that can still be downloaded from the Softonic website but which has not been updated since 2010.
